ABC News 20/20: Over the Barrel

An informative program tracing oil in the ground to gasoline on the street.  The program proves that retailers have opportunities to increase fuel margins & sales while providing retail price protection to their customers.  Watch the video clip on gas stations and margins.

Both fuel retailers and customers can move from "over the barrel" to "top of the barrel".

Petrofix

An excellent site offering retail gasoline and diesel fuel price caps that settle against U.S. averages.  Transactions may be up to many months in advance.

The site could be renamed Petrocap since customers are limiting -- not locking in -- their retail price risk.  Nevertheless, the site is well-crafted and Petrofix is ahead of the curve.

MoreGallons

Indefinite price locks for moderate to large volume consumers.  Another well constructed site but price locks are problematic, since customers are exposed to potentially significant downside price risk.

Blogs

There are two blogs focused on informing retailers and customers on the what and how of fuel price protection programs.
The first blog (hosted by WTL) is at http://wtlf3p.wordpress.com/ and is dedicated exclusively to fuel price protecton and margin improvement programs.
The other blog (hosted by Convenience Store News) is Spare Change.  It covers a wide range of topics related to the convenience store industry and includes some of the same posts on the F3P blog.
